The 28th Annual World Yoga Festival is the month-long celebration of yoga with global virtual yoga presentations and workshops inclusive of the annual celebration of the 7th International Day of Yoga. The International Day of Yoga celebrated on 21 June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice which originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.
About the PanelistsPrem Sadasivananda is a direct and long-term disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda, the disciple of the renowned Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, India. Prem Sadasivananda is also a scholar of Vedantic philosophy, Hindu scripture and Sanskrit. Prem Sadasivananda is the author of the Open Your Heart To Love, a spiritual inspirational book on love, Empower Your Life and several CDs of chanting. He conducts regular teachings via webinars and live talks and lectures.
Mariyam Nayeri is a chef and yoga teacher who grew up between the north and south side of Milwaukee, WI with her Mexican-American family until moving to Brooklyn in 2002. Returning home in 2018, she created a wellness space called Botanica Galactica with the spirit of community in mind. Her passions are rooted in creating events that foster connection through food, movement and joy.
