The Florence Belsky Charitable Foundation: Who We Are
Our Story
FLOBEL is a non-profit which was founded in 2003 by Florence (Florry) Belsky. Florence was a pioneer feminist and a firm believer in the power of networking and mentoring. As one of two women in her graduating class at Brooklyn Law School, Florence knew about perseverance and progress and she was passionate about sharing her knowledge and gifts with others. A successful business woman, patron of the arts and a master networker Florence was a mentor to many and her foundation reflected this. After she passed away in 2007, her mentees and co-founders Dan Schneider and Charlotte Pfahl continued to run the foundation honoring Florence and her legacy.
Since 2003, FLOBEL has grown its network from a regional to a national organization with a robust outreach. FLOBEL has developed sophisticated programs that leverage remote learning, built a network of mentors known as ‘Advisors’, and provided its community with opportunities for members to share successes and request specific assistance through a monthly newsletter. We take pride in the hundreds of meaningful connections made between members that often lead to job creation, skill sharing, mentorship and friendship.
