Bandcamp Friday is TODAY (i explain WTH that means inside ;)

Hey

Happy Friday!  Or should I say, Happy BANDCAMP Friday!?

This is the first time we’re doing this.  I’ve released an exclusive version of The Saratoga Sessions, featuring not only the four songs, but four voice audio Stories Behind The Songs, to Bandcamp.

And today, Bandcamp waives its revenue share with artists, so that 100% of all pay-what-you-wish contributions go to…the artists.   That’s pretty darn nice of them (they do it one Friday a month.  Today is November’s day!)

DIG INTO SARATOGA SESSIONS SONGS + STORIES!

These 8 tracks are not your typical album, with just music.  It’s like a sonic diary where I spill the tea on each song’s inception, its transformation, and the magic that happened in the studio. 🎤

Did you know…
This Is The Sound came to me when I was on retreat at Kripalu Yoga, and I originally thought it would be an EDM song?

✈️  I do some of my best writing mid-air, or mid-train-ride?

🪽   I discovered a secret to singing a naked, vulnerable lead vocal, that can’t be planned, but absolutely unlocked the best vocal takes on The Phoenix? (To be fair, I was not physically naked, but hey, maybe we’ll try that next?)

I share it all in the Stories Behind the Songs.  About 23 minutes of intimate, Oprah-style interviews (without Oprah, alas).

You can listen to all the songs first, then the stories, OR, listen to each song + story together, one at a time.

A lot of people ask me “How do you come up with ideas for a song?” and “How do you choose your producers?” and loads of other questions…and I answer dozens of them in these behind-the-curtain audios.

Thanks for considering downloading The Saratoga Sessions: Songs + Stories on this Bandcamp Friday (or whenever you like, today’s just the day they waive their revenue share).  I hope there’s more than a few sparks of elevation and inspiration inside to propel you into the best weekend ever.  Love sharing this music, and now, these stories, with you!

PS.  The image below is what Bandcamp looks like. I know a lot of you probably never visited before. I hadn’t until a few years ago.  It’s a very cool platform where thousands of artists are selling their tracks, albums, and merch, setting their own prices (or pay what you wish), and creating deeper connections with fans.  In the age of Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora etc paying about 0.003 cents a stream (I wish I was kidding, I’m not. I love those services, but it takes millions of streams to even recoup the investment in producing an album, never mind pay your rent), Bandcamp offers a viable piece of the puzzle for artists to earn a living, contributing their work and allowing fans to not only enjoy it, but support its creation.
