 Did you know that the first Labor Day was not all picnics and barbecues, but rather a workers’ strike? Yes, workers gathered to fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and reasonable working hours, which resulted in violent clashes between the workers and their bosses. While we hope you began September enjoying time outdoors with family and friends during the long Labor Day weekend, let’s also reflect on the gift of work this month, and the contributions we make to the world as business owners who create a better life for ourselves and our employees. Just like those striking workers and our current employees, we may have to push ourselves through situations that test our will, and we may have to start over a few times. But we know that the work we all do is a privilege, because it makes a difference. |
