This is going to be a great one! MEOW !!! Thursday, October 31, 2024 Dear Friend,  _Fall is upon us, and what better way to embrace the season than by celebrating the 51st Anniversary of the iconic Village Halloween Parade in New York City? This year’s theme, MEOW!, encompasses everything from freedom and creativity, to eccentricity and CATS!!! And CAT LADIES! As the poet Joseph Brodsky says:“The surest defense against Evil is extreme individualism, originality of thinking, whimsicality, even — if you will — eccentricity. That is, something that can’t be feigned, faked, imitated; something even a seasoned impostor couldn’t be happy with.” Or maybe you prefer the Cheshire Cat: “Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.” That’s the Halloween Parade in a nutshell! Join us! You will fit right in!  Grand Marshal!  _We’re thrilled to announce that the renowned Broadway icon, André De Shields will serve as Grand Marshal, right off his fabulous performance as Old Deuteronomy in the wildly reviewed recent production of CATS: The Jellicale Ball. Before that he WAS the WIZ! And won a Tony for Best Actor for Hadestown, as part of a lifetime of brilliance and achievements in theater, activism and philanthropy. We are honored to have him join us!  CAT LADIES UNITE! Special Section this year ! Turns out NYC is the epicenter for Cat Ladies! So, the Parade invites Cat Ladies and Cat Lovers of all stripes and patterns to the Parade, and there will be a special section of the Parade for CAT LADIES in particular! This special section comes with after party tickets, Choreography, Chants, a TV appearance, a prime place in the Parade line up and a contest to win a spot on a Parade Float. BUY A TICKET! For those of you eager to take part or watch in person, it all kicks off at 7pm ET on Thursday, October 31, 2024, starting from Spring St. and traveling North on Sixth Avenue from Canal Street to 18th Street.
