Calling all artists!

Dear Friends:
It was lovely to meet some of you over the last couple of weeks as The Village Trip joined with Randy Cohen’s Person Place Thing podcast series for live interviews with Jamie Bernstein and Janis Siegel. Not only did the two evenings offer engaging conversation but also some terrific music: the husband-and-wife team of Amy Burton and John Musto with Jamie, and guitarist Sean Harkness accompanying Janis at the second. The shows will be broadcast on WAMC Northeast Public Radio in early September and will also be available wherever you listen to your podcasts. Check out the photos on the website.
Meanwhile, we are just fitting into place the final few pieces of the jigsaw that is The Village Trip 2025 – Friday, September 19 to Sunday September 28 – and we will be revealing some programme highlights and early booking opportunities over the next couple of weeks.

Framing the Village Exhibition 2025 We are pleased to announce that Framing the Village, the annual Village Trip Art Exhibition, is now open for entries. Once again, Marc Kehoe, esteemed Village artist and art historian, is the curator, and the theme this year is Freedomland! The venue will once again be The Revelation Gallery at St John’s in the Village, where the first Village Trip Art Exhibition took place in 2022. Freedomland is the West Village, the East Village, the Lower East Side. Freedomland is where we experiment, where we create, and where we have freedom to be who we are! Painting, drawing, collage, photography, video, and sculpture expressing our freedom are all welcome entries. All-weather sculpture will be exhibited in the church’s beautifully landscaped courtyard garden. Entry is open to all artists aged 18+ who have a connection to Greenwich Village or the East Village/Lower East Side, who live or have lived or worked in these neighborhoods.

Please spread the word among family, friends and neighbors! Encourage them to sign up to our mailing list and newsletter. We promise not to bombard you with emails! And if you can, please consider a donation. With so many grant-giving bodies being deprived of cash, your contribution – however modest it may be – means a lot to a small community non-profit such as The Village Trip. Our annual celebration of culture and community is ever more important, shining a light on the people whose lives and work have shaped not only the Village, and not only New York City and these United States but in many cases the world. We owe it to them not to forget. We owe it to them, and ourselves, to honor their achievements. Let’s keep the flame burning. Liz Thomson & Cliff Pearson Joint Artistic Directors
In 2025 the Festival will run from FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28
