Feb. 23rd Event to Celebrate the Legacy of the Harlem Renaissance

Dear Friend,

I want to let you know about the culturally uplifting event that will take place on Friday Feb. 23rd at Bethel Gospel Assembly in Harlem. The event will celebrate the legacy of the Harlem Renaissance and the work of Beth-Hark Christian Counseling Center, which I co-founded almost 40 years ago; it is still going strong by providing a number of services to the community, including free mental health.

The event will also feature: my new book (josephholland.com/make-your-own-history)

; the premiere of Harlem Grace, a short docudrama about my life; a panel discussion about the New Harlem Renaissance including the the filmmaker, lead actors, and some of the former residents of Harkhomes, the Harlem homeless shelter I founded; and, last but certainly not least — you can’t have an event in a Harlem church without some arts and entertainment added into the mix.

See the attached flyer for more information and to register.

One final note: This is a fundraiser for Beth-Hark; though attendance is free, there will be an opportunity to donate during the event. There will also be a VIP after-event, if you are interested in hanging out with me and the cast.

The goal for the event is to inspire purposefulness and perseverance so that the spirit of history will live on in new and inspirational ways.

Hope you can make it . . . and please spread the word.

All the best,

Joe
