| Awesome lunar eat-clips Artful creative types from South Korea had a bright idea to ring in the New Year: A massive laser-light dragon that swirls through the sky in search of something yummy to eat. As you can see from this video, an offer of a light snack sent this hungry blue beast over the moon. Unfortunately, the event, held as a pre-midnight countdown extravaganza in Busan to celebrate the Year of the Dragon, didn’t go off as planned. Some unexplained technical glitch forced the show to be postponed, infuriating 80,000 celebrants on hand to take in the display, according to The Korea Herald, the country’s largest English language newspaper. This after a dress rehearsal video spiked anticipation, the paper reported. Perhaps the snafu had something to do with the 2,000 drones needed to pull off the spectacle. Despite the delay, those who stuck around Busan’s Gwangalli Beach weren’t disappointed. On Monday, several hours after January 1 2024 arrived in South Korea, the dragon finally flew. This clip shows the creature in red and green glory. An impressive achievement, if you ask me. Perhaps its success portends a prosperous 2024. Something all of us would appreciate. Happy New Year! |
