Letter from Ingrid Sertso Berger

To everybody who loves and cares about Creative Music Studio:

For those who don’t know, I am the life partner of Karl Berger, who founded CMS in 1972 with Ornette Coleman and myself. It’s been a wonderful journey, and despite some challenging times, we’ve managed to make it this far. But now we need your help more than ever.

I’m writing to let you know about a benefit concert for CMS that we have coming up on Wednesday, December 11 in New York City at le Poisson Rouge. The concert is being organized by our dear friend and CMS Artistic Director Billy Martin, who will be performing along with Joe Russo and many others in what promises to be a wonderful and special evening of creative music. Tickets/more info here: https://lpr.kydlabs.com/e/EV119f8dff-bdc4-4539-9c6e-817199eb3278

And if you are unable to make it to the benefit concert, CMS always appreciates your donation. Donations can be made easily through our website at www.creativemusic.org

The basic philosophy of CMS is this: The ability to give your own original sound – that’s the beating heart of CMS and creative music as a whole. This is how our workshops are different: CMS is not about teaching; it is about empowering – bringing out the music that is in you already.

CMS has had a huge influence on generations of musicians around the world. We are a non-profit organization and we depend on grants and generous contributions from donors. And we are so lucky to have had donors who deeply understand and care for what CMS is about. We do what we can to keep going – as we have through the ups and downs of the past 50 years – but these are difficult times, and we need your support.

To read a list of the great musicians – both former students and “Guiding Artists” – who have passed through CMS over the years, check out the “history” section on our site: www.creativemusic.org

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

Love to all of you, and the world,

Ingrid Sertso Berger
