indian raga jazz songwriter pop mashup nyc 7/23 :)
Posted on July 17, 2022
Do I get to see you next Saturday, July 23?
Here’s what’s going down…
I’m returning to the Cutting Room NYC, for the first time since our #1MillionHearts EP Release party last October. I’ll be performing on a double bill with Charu Suri, the first Indian woman to debut work at Carnegie Hall, and a sophisticated, playful, lithe classical and jazz composer.
Not in NYC? Will you fwd this to your friends and suggest they come enjoy, and say hello? I’d love to meet your people! (And you can still check out a sneak peek of our rehearsal below…)
And don’t forget that The Cutting Room has a delish full menu and full bar, so come over early and make it a dinner date.
Charu and I met on a Zoom during the pandemic, both of us volunteering for the Recording Academy’s District Advocate Day. The RA is the group that puts on the Grammys, and District Advocate Day is when creators speak directly with legislative representatives to share the realities, needs, and ideal next steps for working creatives.
Now, we’re cross pollinating our styles at The Cutting Room. Our rehearsals have been a blast, discovering the fun of mixing our jazz, pop, Raga, and singer/songwriter flavors.
With Charu accompanying me, I sing differently. Come hear how the inner chanteuse comes out to play on 3 song collabs Charu and I are doing, both in her set and mine!
And now imagine it in the bold theatrical setting of The Cutting Room…grand piano…state of the art lights and sound… your martini arriving as your shoulders relax and ease into the sonic healing that is live music.
This has been such a special show to prepare. More on what to expect in my set soon…
For now, gather your group (we already have one birthday group coming… The Cutting Room is a very fun, classy spot to celebrate something), and secure your seats!!
