Use Screenplay Structure to Process Recent Events (and maybe find your next story idea)
Wednesday, July 29, 2020 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm EST via ZOOM
We’ve been living in a science fiction movie since the Coronavirus hit us. We urgently need to process our recent experiences, regain emotional balance, and move forward with strength and purpose to create a new structure for our lives. Humans have used storytelling to understand their experience since the first cavemen sat around a campfire. The Zoom meeting has become our new “Campfire.” Making meaning of our lives through storytelling is our first need once our basic survival is secured.
There are important similarities between screenplay story structure and how we actually organize and understand real life experience, for example, our need for a story to have a beginning, middle and end. We’re all hardwired for story and learning a little craft results in a satisfying experience for both writer and reader. In this webinar, you’ll learn my easy method for building good stories and then how to create short 1-2 paragraph stories, quickly and well. The Webinar will be in three parts:
1. You’ll learn this easy method of story creation
2. Participants will structure and write a paragraph story.
3. We’ll read some of them aloud to the group.
