Casablanca Unplugged

April 1, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm UTC+0

Join us for an enlightening Q&A session with documentary filmmaker Cambiz Khosravi, a valued advisor to the Flobel Foundation. Cambiz will be interviewed by Steven Beer, Esq., co-chair of our Film & TV Committee. This event promises to be a fascinating dive into the making of a documentary that revisits the iconic film Casablanca, through the lens of its co-screenwriter Howard Koch.

Important: We will be sharing a VIP link to the film, which we ask you to watch before the Q&A session. The only way to receive the link is by RSVPing to the screening at flobelfoundation@gmail.com.

About the Film: In 1992, Cambiz Khosravi produced a documentary focusing on Howard Koch, the co-screenwriter of Casablanca. Initially aimed at exploring the impact of The House Committee on Un-American Activities (HCUA) and Koch’s subsequent blacklisting, the documentary utilized the allure of Casablanca to engage viewers. However, in retrospect, Khosravi expresses a wish to have delved deeper into the film itself, particularly its unique ending—a topic that has intrigued audiences for decades. Thanks to further research and insights, including those from Pulitzer playwright Michael Cristofer, this documentary now offers surprising new perspectives on this beloved film.

This event not only enriches your understanding of film history but also connects you with the creative minds shaping our cultural narrative. Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to gain deeper insights into Casablanca and the stories behind its creation.

Looking forward to sharing this unique journey with you.
