You’re probably like the Heller Fundraising Group – you know how to work hard AND you take time off to recharge.

Over the last year we have found books, movies, and TV shows to be a particularly effective way to unwind.

Sometimes we go high concept; other times low-brow. But you gotta unwind.

Here’s our list of things we’ve been reading and watching; we hope it inspires your thinking and entertains you when needed.

The Heller Fundraising Group’s 2021 Must – Watch/Read List!

What book(s) would you recommend to start 2021 off right?

  • Decolonizing Wealth by Edgar Villanueva. This book tells it like it is and offers a path forward. – Peter
  • I’m reading Becoming by Michelle Obama because she is a great example for women everywhere; powerful, confident, and whip smart. – Sonja
  • The Seat of the Soul and Soul Stories by Gary Zukav. Both are very thought-provoking. – Betsy
  • The Best of Me by David Sedaris – Short stories that are guaranteed to make you laugh out loud. – Jess
  • All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot. A new Masterpiece 7-part TV series was just released inspired by Herriot’s books. I am enjoying re-reading one of my childhood favorites. – Emma

What movie is on your must-watch list right now?

  • Galaxy Quest. The only movie that always stays on my list! – Peter
  • Soul. Why? It is the latest Pixar movie, and I’m a kid at heart. – Sonja
  • Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The ads look great with 2 actors I really like, Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman. – Betsy
  • The Social Dilemma – We are more than our algorithms, but most don’t know that until they see this documentary. – Jess
  • My Octopus Teacher. An incredibly unique documentary about a free diver in South Africa that forms an unusual bond with an octopus! – Emma

What TV show would you recommend someone watch right now?

  • The Queens Gambit! – Peter
  • I’m currently enjoying The Night Manager. It has an amazing cast, and is fascinating to watch the deception unfurl… – Sonja
  • The Undoing – a who-dunit in 6 episodes, Nicole Kidman/Hugh Grant/Donald Sutherland, great acting. – Betsy
  • The Great British Baking Show – My escape from the real world into something sweet. – Jess
  • We are the Champions – A really fun feel-good documentary series about unique competitions; from cheese rolling to dog dancing. – Emma
Best wishes,

Peter
