Bio: Stephen Powers Educated in molecular biology at MIT, Stephen Powers is a social entrepreneur, chief executive, Grammy-winning music producer, Emmy-nominated TV producer, filmmaker, marketeer, board director, creative consultant, and business leader with decades of high-level experience. Powers is currently CEO of Powers Omnimedia, a production, publishing and consultancy firm serving media & entertainment clients, including Wisdome.LA and 360 Dome Pro, a leading technology and location based-entertainment company providing immersive VR dome theaters worldwide. Powers has served as CEO of Bodhi Tree; Co-Founder & CEO of Agape Media; Chief of Platform Expansion at e-commerce unicorn Thrive Market, President of Miller & Kreisel Sound; Co-Founder & CEO of Drive Entertainment (dist. by Universal Music); Founder & President of Chameleon Music Group (dist. by Capitol-EMI); Director of A&R at Capitol Records Hollywood; President of the Board at Theatricum Botanicum; Director of Entertainment for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics; Founder & President of Mountain Railroad Records; and Founder & Executive Director of Charlotte’s Web for the Performing Arts. His numerous creative credits include record production, NPR radio host, PBS Television writer and producer, editor, Nautilus Award-winning publisher, keynote speaker, and TV host. As a record producer and A&R exec, Powers scored four #1 pop hits and earned numerous Gold and Platinum awards, including the Grammy-winning, multi-million seller, "The Healer" by John Lee Hooker featuring Bonnie Raitt and Carlos Santana, which he released on his Chameleon Records label distributed by Capitol. Producing his first record at the age of 21, Powers is a life-long member of The Recording Academy and credited with production of more than 150 albums and soundtracks by such world-renowned artists as Tina Turner, The Beach Boys, will.i.am, Duran Duran, Queen, George Clinton, Joe Cocker, Devo, Bryan Ferry, Steve Goodman, and Ms. Magazine's Woman Of the Year, Holly Near. Other recognition includes Producer of the Year, Music Executive of the Year, Independent Label of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, and an Emmy nomination for his PBS special Swing Alive starring Bob Hope, Sheena Easton, Patty Andrews and Brian Setzer. A skilled deal-maker who understands the value of historic media libraries and archival content, Powers has raised capital and negotiated multi-million dollar deals to acquire Vee-Jay Records, Golden Records, Fairyland Music, Bodhi Talks, and other valuable properties for his companies. Throughout his career, Powers has volunteered in the non-profit sector, including 18 years on the Board of Trustees and 7 years as President of Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, a professional repertory theater and school of drama founded in 1974; Director of the Media and Music ministry at Agape Spiritual Center; and the Science Committee of Topanga Elementary Charter School, among other beneficial organizations. Pursuing his life-long passion for positive social impact, Powers joined forces in 2006 with acclaimed spiritual leader, Michael Bernard Beckwith and Oscar-winning filmmaker Mark R. Harris ("Crash”), serving as Co-Founder and CEO of Agape Media International (AMI)—dedicated to creating transformative content that uplifts the human spirit. Powers' accomplishments at Agape include production of Beckwith's PBS Special, The Answer Is You, featuring Will.I.Am; the Nautilus award-winning Life Visioning series; production and live streaming of AgapeLive special events and services; Beckwith’s Grammy-nominated CD TranscenDance; a worldwide publishing deal with Hay House; and serving as Marketing Chair for the mega-hit DVD and book, The Secret, resulting in 26 million units sold. He produced hundreds of live events and conferences incl. Revelation, Agape Music Symposium & Arts Festival, Easter at The Gibson Amphitheater, The Courage of Conscience Awards and Birth 2012, tripling attendance, membership and revenues during his tenure at LA’s largest center for spiritual living. In 2013, Following many years of operating 'traditional' production, manufacturing, distribution, and marketing organizations, Powers fully embraced the digital revolution. He joined e-commerce startup Thrive Market at its inception and led platform expansion for the company as annual revenues exploded to more $100 million in less than 18 months following launch. Moving on to become CEO of Bodhi Tree in 2015, Powers reinvented the legacy wellness brand for this modern, digital age — launching bodhitree.com as an e-commerce and media portal. The 25,000-page site has been described as "stunning" conceptually and visually, and now encompasses online learning, mercantile, journal, community service, YouTube channel and other fast-growing social media platforms. In 2018, Powers became a co-founder and partner of Wisdome.LA, opening the world’s first immersive music and art theme park. Wisdome and its affiliated companies, incl. 360 Dome Pro, Fulldome.Pro, and 360 Art have produced more than fifty 360º immersive films including the award-winning Samskara with visionary artist, Android Jones. As one of the leading, global geodesic dome exhibition companies, Fulldome and 360 Dome have completed more than 500 dome installations in more than 50 countries worldwide, including domes at Coachella, the Super Bowl, the World Cup in Russia, Burning Man, Panorama Festival and other permanent and pop-up activations. Wisdome is a fully immersive, virtual reality experience without glasses or goggles that allows for social interaction and community connection. Hollywood producers, celebrities, musicians and artists, including some of the biggest names in show business, have discovered Wisdome.LA in its first twelve months and asked to participate. The park has been an instant hit on social media, drawing large crowds from across multiple demographics, proving the business viability of immersive entertainment in domes. The company is now working to open Wisdome parks in multiple cities. Powers lives in Topanga, CA with his wife and three children.
