Bio: Rory Webley is a young up and coming music artist that originated from the Gold Coast, Australia. While he was completing his education at All Saints Anglican School Rory started a YouTube channel where he uploaded covers and original songs. His audience quickly grew after downloading the popular entertainment app, Tiktok, where his “spooky bops” connected with millions. Rory’s upbeat personality and music paired with his sad and somewhat darker lyrics was likened to other indie artists such as; Melanie Martinez, Clairo, Billie Eilish and Cavetown. His first breakout song titled “Friendly Neighborhood poltergeist” featured the age old concept of unrequited love… but with a spooky twist! The track quickly went viral on Tiktok, YouTube and popular music streaming apps Spotify and Soundcloud garnering well over 20 million streams. Rory later signed to an indie label and focused primarily on his music career which had previously just been a passion project. Rory Webley’s debut EP “Are you scared yet?” Was released in 2020 after working with local producer Konstantin Kersting (known for producing “Dance monkey”) to produce his original songs which had been created on GarageBand originally. Unfortunately, the release of his debut EP was stalled due to the Global pandemic. Despite this setback Rory decided to go ahead with releasing the EP. Although the project had a rocky start and Rory was told to “change his style” by industry professionals the EP quickly started to rise up in popularity now surpassing 35 million streams on Spotify alone and becoming his most successful project to date. Rory aims to release his sophomore EP “Teenage Tragedy” with the first 3 singles on that project already accumulating over 10 million streams on Spotify.
