Bio: Michael Veitch has been performing as a solo acoustic singer-songwriter throughout the United States and parts of the Europe for over twenty years. He has opened for and shared stages with many well-recognized performers, including Shawn Colvin, Livingston Taylor, Kate Taylor, Leo Kotke, Chris Whitley, Maria Muldaur, Artie Traum, John Herald, Jerry Marotta, and many others. He has performed notably at the Newport Folk Festival, the Kerrville Folk Festival , the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, the Solar Fest , the Telluride Folk Festival (song contest finalist 2003), the Southwest Folk Alliance. He has also toured as opener for Shawn Colvin. His song “Veteran’s Day” was recorded by Judy Collins for her recent CD “Bohemian” and a Live Special DVD “From the Temple of Dendur” which featured a duet with Kenny White on Veteran’s Day as well as performances by Shawn Colvin and Anni DiFranco. Michael also has a song that is currently shortlisted for a major motion picture now in production. He was part of the “Monday Night Songwriter’s Group” in Greenwich Village, hosted by Jack Hardy (Fast Folk). He has also performed numerous coffeehouse and cafe dates, as well as house concerts, radio shows, and benefits, consistently over the years. He has continued to perform regularly even while working full-time as a real estate agent in Woodstock, NY. He opened for Maria Muldaur before 400 in Bellows Falls, Vermont and was featured at the sold- out “Friends of Dan” festival (in honor of the journalist Daniel Pearl) in Hudson, New York. In the summer of 2010 he played a benefit for the Rockingham, Vermont Animal Sanctuary, in addition to several cafe dates locally near his home in Woodstock, New York. He also gave an extensive interview to Australian public radio. Michael also has five CD titles in current distribution through CD Baby and iTunes, which can also be heard on folk/roots radio throughout the US and into Europe and streaming on numerous platforms including Spotify and Pandora: New York Journal (1998), Southern Girl (2000), Heartlander (2004) Painted Heart (2007) and Postcards From Vermont (2013). He is also producing a series of original songs in homage to the Beach Boys entitled “The Veitch Boys” available as single downloads and streaming. .
