His bass playing skills have taken him around the world, performing on stages with a variety of artists encompassing many different musical styles. Some of the artists he has toured with include: Teen pop sensation Victoria Justice (2012-2013), contemporary jazz icon Mindi Abair (2010-2014), Russian rocker Roman Arkhipov (2012), “Ambrosia” lead singer David Pack (2012-2014), Guitarist Jeff Golub (2012-2013), the “Dancing With the Stars” tours (2007-2009), pop-star sisters Aly & AJ (2006-2008), Hammond B-3 organ legend Brian Auger (2002-2010), among many others. In 2009, Derek released his first solo album, entitled “Let the Games Begin”, a collection of mostly instrumental bass-led funk. In the years following that release, he performed with his own band in clubs around Los Angeles, and used music from that recording as an integral part of a series of masterclasses that he brought to several music colleges and bass conferences. Drawing on his experience as a studio musician in the Los Angeles music scene, he founded the website in 2010. Via the website, Derek collaborates with artists, songwriters, producers, and composers from all over the world, recording pro-level studio bass tracks in his home studio for their music projects. Derek remains active as a touring and studio bass player, and splits his time between his 2 homes in Burbank, CA and Mammoth Lakes, CA. For more info, visit:
