Bio: Carolyn E. Hansen is a mediator specializing in commercial mediation and cross cultural mediation. She is on the court-approved mediator panels of the commercial division of four New York Supreme Courts: New York County, Westchester County, Nassau County, and Kings County. She is admitted to the Bar in New York (1981), Wisconsin (1974), and the United States Supreme Court (1986). Ms. Hansen is graduate of the University of Michigan (J.D., 1972) and the Free University in Brussels, Belgium (LL.M., International and Comparative Law, 1973). Carolyn has a Bachelor of Science including studies in psychology, which along with her extensive international experience, informs her mediation practice. Carolyn has been in private practice in New York since 1999 where she utilizes extensive global business development and liaison experience, expertise in nonprofit organizations and in commercial and trade law to assist corporate, business, non-profit, municipal, high-tech, entrepreneurial clients and individuals facing a variety of needs. Ms. Hansen previously lived for 12 years in Taiwan heading her international law consultancy. Prior to that Ms. Hansen served as head of the law department of the international division of Ralston Purina Company, and as international in-house counsel to Schering-Plough Corporation, and Johnson Wax. As a member of the International Academy of Law and Mental Health she is active in the international movement for therapeutic jurisprudence which brings psychology into the training and practice of law.
