Bio: Brian started his education at Pitzer College where he enrolled in a duel degree program with Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He received a B.A. in Mathematics from Pitzer College and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a focus in Tissue Engineering from Columbia University. Though the duel degree program he has been given the unique opportunity to possess the social perspective of the liberal arts student and quantitative perspective of the engineering student. He has worked for Columbia University’s Biomedical Department, where he assisted professors and doctors at Columbia Medical School prototype and design medical devices as well as new methods for medical diagnostics. In particular, he helped prototype a new and novel method to test biopsies for cancerous tissue. This method was shown to significantly improve screening results for pap smear tests. Brian's largest passion and goal in life is to positively impact society and the environment in which we live though biotechnology, while his long term goals include education, health care, and environmental reform. Those who get to know Brian say his biggest hobbies are cooking, playing the guitar, backpacking/hiking, reading, playing soccer, and the occasional doodling.
