
Bio: Bernard H Jackson, III currently represents yasiin bey (formerly known as “Mos Def”) and is the Ideation Counsel for “A Country Called Earth”, yasiin bey's global design consortium and film, television and theater production company. Mr. Jackson has an ongoing transactional entertainment and media law practice representing artists, actors and film production companies. A former Counsel in the New York office of Dewey & LeBoeuf's Entertainment and Media Group ("EMG") he specialized in contract negotiations in all areas of the entertainment and media industry (music, film, television, Internet, etc.) working closely with L. Londell McMillan, the EMG co-global head. He has worked on matters for major corporate clients such as Unilever, various media and entertainment companies, and such notable individual clients as Michael Jackson, Rosie O’Donnell, and Lil’ Kim. Mr. Jackson also teaches law (Entertainment Law & Ethics, Contract Drafting & Negotiation), media & entertainment (The Music & Print Industries in the Digital Millennium), and business courses (Entrepreneurship) as an Adjunct Professor for the MBA in Media Management Program at Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY). As a former New York City Teaching Fellow he acquired a Masters Degree in Education at The City College of New York while teaching Business Law, Constitutional Law, Entrepreneurship and United States History at the Bronx High School for Law, Government and Justice. A graduate of Boston University’s School of Public Communication with a major in Film & Broadcasting, he also obtained a Professional Certificate for Film & Television Producing from New York University’s School of Continuing Education and Professional Studies. Bernie is a member of the Advisory Board for the Broadway Dreams Foundation, an international non-profit company that provides theater instruction to aspiring stage artists.
