for the 2023 Unexpected Play Festival

WTP Call for Submissions for the Unexpected Play Festival produced in partnership with Theatrical Outfit:

About the Unexpected Play Festival:

  • The festival will be in February 2023.
  • To submit playwrights must be local WTP members.
  • WTP Acting Ensemble will be given casting priority.
  • Three-four plays will be selected and given readings.
  • Each playwright selected will be partnered with a dramaturg and offered dramaturgy as part of the process.
  • Each piece will get two-three rehearsals and a one hour tech (sound and lights), followed by a WTP moderated feedback session.
  • Playwrights will be paid a reasonable rate, along with all other artists.

DEADLINE for submissions is August 31st.
You must be a WTP member to submit a script.

Please submit your full length play. Full length script submissions are 60 pages or more. We are not accepting one acts or short plays at this time.

SUBMIT YOUR SCRIPT BLIND: Remove your name from all pages and include a title page with the following information separately.

  2. Production history
  3. Awards and Accolades
  4. Development history
  5. Synopsis

  3. Bio (no more than 150 words)
There is no submissions fee. You must be a member of WTP to submit.
