Laurence Jackson is currently a producer at Messenger Films, a non-profit 501(c)3 film production company, in which his responsibilities include production budget management, contract review, social media engagement, community outreach, and post-production coordination. In January of 2014, Laurence spent two months co-producing a feature film in Bosnia & Herzegovina, which will be released to a number of international film festivals come December. He is an alumnus of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems and recently served on the Alumni Chapter Board. During his time at the University of Maryland, Laurence also served as the founder and president of the university’s filmmaking society. He wrote, produced, and directed 2 short films, a feature film, and a mini-series, as well as oversaw the production of over a dozen other short films. Following his time at the University of Maryland, Laurence served as a Senior IT Auditor at Ernst & Young, LLP, and as a free-lance producer. At Ernst & Young, Laurence supervised a number of Fortune 500 company audits, as well as served on the People Advisory Board, an invite- only board with the mission of enhancing employees’ work/life balance. As a free-lance producer, Laurence has worked with such clients as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, One School Media, Inc., Burch Builders Group, University of Maryland Alumni Relations, and the University of Maryland Student Affairs. In 2012, Laurence enrolled at the School of Communication at American University, where he is preparing to graduate with a Master of Arts degree in Producing for Film and Video in the summer of 2014.
