George Petit is a musician, composer, recording engineer and record producer working and living in NYC. Music has been his passion and primary focus for his entire life, playing his first ‘gigs’ at the age of 13 in the West-End, London Pub circuit, at Carnegie Hall and on Broadway at the Palace Theater. Petit enjoyed many years leading groups, performing on guitar and bass in a variety of genres all over the world. In addition, he produced and/or engineered over 50 cds. Petit has two cds as a leader, both released on the MAR CREATION label in the USA, Japan and on the Internet. Both have been well reviewed by Jazz publications. Petit leads three groups with which he performs regularly in the NYC jazz clubs. All three play Petit’s original compositions as well a steady flow of new compositions. Over the years, Petit performed at myriad Jazz Festivals and Clubs. Petit engineered and produced recordings in NYC and Brazil with a long list of top musicians and has composed music for film, television and radio, advertising, special project documentaries and adventure video projects. He has received four TELLY awards for sound design in advertising. He composed the score for a ‘short’ film, THE DRUMMER which was screened at five Film Festivals and won five awards. Petit owned and operated two commercial recording studios in Shelburne, Vermont and in NYC, which operated successfully for 15 years. Petit attended Trinity School in NYC, The Haberdasher’s Aske School in England, Aiglon College in Switzerland, Vassar College in NY and The Musicians Institute in LA. He taught master classes in music and audio production at Aiglon College as a returning guest professor. Petit recently travelled to Sao Paulo, Brazil where he trained an engineering and production staff at a new state-of-the-art recording facility.
